Jamie Reed MP, Member of Parliament for Copeland has responded to news that Cumbria County Council have pegged the price increase of community meals to inflation. He said:
“Cumbria County Council’s record on helping elderly people and those who depend on care services is less than adequate. They have done nothing of note to protect the most vulnerable in our area from the savage cuts imposed by the Coalition Government.
“I welcome the fact that the Council have rejected its own plans to increase the price by almost 50% which would have been extremely tough.
“Limiting the increase in the price of these meals however, will do nothing to reassure people as the cost of adult social care increases and more and more care homes are being closed.”
