West Cumbrian MP, Jamie Reed, has today invited nominations to find Cumbria’s ‘Flood Heroes’.
Two lucky winners will be invited as Jamie Reed’s special guests to a reception at 10 Downing Street in honour of Flood Heroes. The reception, to be hosted by the Prime Minister, will recognise the outstanding work of local people who have gone that extra mine to help make a difference. Unfortunately, the Government are not providing any funding for travel or accommodation so any guests will have to cover these costs.
This reception comes after Jamie Reed’s letter to the Prime Minister, in which he called upon the Government to create a new ‘Floods Honour’ to celebrate the selfless efforts of those who have provided invaluable help and assistance following the recent devastating flooding in Cumbria.
To nominate your Flood Hero you will need to be quick as nominations close at 3pm tomorrow (Friday 26th February). Nominations will only be accepted by email to Jamie.firstname.lastname@example.org using the subject line ‘Flood Hero’. Nominations must include the name, a contact number and full address of the nominee, and the reason why they deserve to attend the Flood Heroes reception (no more than 100 words). Entries by any other means will not be accepted and the winners must be available on Monday 21st March.
Copeland MP Jamie Reed MP said:
“There are so many incredible, community spirited people who should be commended for their work in supporting people and businesses affected by flooding.
“Those people cannot be thanked enough. I have tabled Parliamentary motions and written letters of thanks, and now I would like to extend the opportunity to two local Flood Heroes to join me for a celebration in their honour in 10 Downing Street.
“Show your thanks to someone who has been invaluable to the flood recovery effort by nominating them today to receive the recognition that they rightly deserve”.
